Rustic Mountain Cabin Remodel

This 1985 log cabin in Aspen had incredible mountain views but interiors that felt dark, cramped, and disconnected from the snowy landscape outside. The owners wanted a cozy yet luxurious mountain lodge where they could host family gatherings in winter and enjoy quiet summer nights on an expanded deck overlooking the peaks.

We opened up the main living area by removing a massive stone fireplace that blocked the view and replacing it with a sleek, see-through fireplace that serves both the living and dining spaces. Floor-to-ceiling windows now frame the mountain vistas, while reclaimed barn wood, leather furnishings, and warm wool textures add rustic charm and comfort.

Fireplace Became Room's Focal Point

The new double-sided fireplace anchors the open living area, providing warmth and drama. Stone, steel, and glass combine to create a stunning centerpiece. Guests gather around it naturally, making the room feel social, warm, and undeniably special in every season.

Expanded Deck For Year-Round Enjoyment

We built a spacious deck with a hot tub, outdoor fireplace, and heated walkways for snowy months. It comfortably accommodates twenty guests for summer barbecues or winter stargazing. The mountain views are now accessible from both inside and out, doubling the usable living space.
